GIC: in the whole grid


In this example, an animation is showing the GIC levels due to a rotating spatially uniform electric field (1 V/km) in the whole area.

Circles indicate the magnitude of GIC, blue colour denotes currents from the ground into the grid and red colour denotes currents from the grid into the ground. The electric field vector is shown as a rotating arrow.

Note how GIC can reach large values especially at corner points. At some other points, the current is always quite small.
